Meridian Building Services is part of the City’s Community Development organization and handles structural, fire, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing permits, plan review, permit issuance, and field inspections for residential, commercial, and industrial projects within Meridian.

Meridian building permits and plan review

Building permit applications are submitted through Meridian’s Accela Citizen Access portal. After the application and fees are processed, the City may invite the applicant into ProjectDox for electronic plan review and document uploads. Use the City’s residential or commercial submittal checklists to assemble plans, site information, contractor details, and other documents required for the project type.

Meridian’s Building Services page lists applications for remodels, mobile homes, fences, sheds, garages, foundations, fireplaces, demolition, and other work in addition to new construction. Start with the City’s application guidance to determine whether separate fire, trade, or planning approvals are needed.

Meridian inspections and certificates of occupancy

After a permit is issued, request inspections through Citizen Access. Meridian’s official how-to guide directs users to log in, search by permit number, open Record Info, choose Inspections, and select Schedule or Request an Inspection. The City’s fast-track certificate-of-occupancy handout states that the portal can show permit information, track plan-review comments and status, retrieve a certificate of occupancy, and schedule inspections.

Do not occupy a new or altered commercial or multifamily space until the required inspections and certificate-of-occupancy approval are complete. Confirm final inspection requirements with Building Services at (208) 887-2211.

Meridian zoning and addressing

Meridian’s addressing guidance requires an approved Location/Address Verification (LDAV) for many new commercial projects and tenant improvements. Submit the address or parcel verification through Citizen Access with the required site plan and supporting documents before relying on a building-permit application. Zoning, permitted use, setbacks, and other development requirements should be confirmed with Meridian Planning before submittal.
