North Las Vegas Building Safety performs plan review, issues permits, and conducts inspections for construction inside North Las Vegas city limits. Properties in unincorporated Clark County or another incorporated city use a different building official; the address must be checked before an application is filed.

North Las Vegas permit process

Create an account in the City’s Citizen Self-Service portal to submit eligible permit applications, pay fees, view status, and manage records. Building Safety says permits, Certificates of Occupancy, and Temporary Certificates of Occupancy are issued electronically. Plan-review requirements and design criteria depend on the project type, valuation, occupancy, and adopted codes.

Inspections, zoning, and occupancy

Request inspections through the Citizen Self-Service portal after the permit is issued and construction is ready for the applicable stage. The City lists (702) 633-1576 for inspection support and (702) 633-1550 for plan check. Building Safety’s process includes planning and zoning review where required, and project-specific civil, fire, or other approvals may be separate from the building permit.

The City states that a new single-family permit becomes the Certificate of Occupancy after an approved final building inspection. For other projects, request the required Certificate of Occupancy or Temporary Certificate of Occupancy from Building Safety and do not occupy until the required authorization is complete.
