The City of Moore Community Development Department is the local authority for building permits, inspections, planning and zoning, and code enforcement inside Moore city limits. Cleveland County is not the city permit office for an incorporated Moore address; verify the responsible jurisdiction for property outside city limits.

Moore building permit application

Moore says permits are required for most commercial and residential remodels, additions, improvements, and all new construction. The city’s GovBuilt portal supports online permit and inspection applications, payment, project tracking, service requests, code enforcement, planning, contractor registration, building inspections, fire-safety, stormwater, and right-of-way workflows.

Before submitting, confirm the project type, zoning, site constraints, and any required plan or fire review. Keep the approved permit and plans available for inspectors and contact the Inspections Department at (405) 793-5051 if it is unclear whether a permit is required.

Moore inspections and occupancy

Same-day inspections may be available when requested by phone or through the portal before 9 a.m. Inspection results can be viewed through GovBuilt. Moore’s occupancy application requires review by Building Safety and Planning/Zoning, and a building should not be occupied until required final inspections and occupancy approvals are complete.

Moore publishes its adopted construction codes, including the 2018 IRC, IBC, IFC, IMC, IPC, IFGC, IEBC, IPMC, 2020 NEC, and referenced life-safety standards, as amended by the city and Oklahoma Uniform Building Code Commission.
