Las Cruces directs applicants to its Accela Citizen Portal for building and business applications, permit status, inspection requests, payments, and document workflows. A valid city address is a prerequisite. Permit types include residential, commercial, special-use, and RV-parking work, with plan review and additional approvals based on the scope.

The city requires a pre-submittal meeting for commercial new construction, additions, or alterations valued at $1 million or more, and for multifamily projects including duplexes or larger regardless of valuation. Inspections, code compliance, and occupancy

Inspection requests are submitted through the Citizen Portal after a permit has been issued and the work is ready. The city supports building, wall, fence, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing inspections. Requests can be made up to five working days in advance; same-day requests are not permitted under the published inspection guidance.

Final inspections and other required approvals must be completed before a project is closed or occupied when an occupancy certificate or completion approval is required. For commercial work, confirm whether fire, business-registration, site, or other reviews must also be cleared.
