Austin permit process

Austin’s development process moves from land-use and site-plan or site-plan-exemption review into building and trade permit activation, construction, inspections, and closeout. The permit holder or an authorized person listed on the permit can schedule inspections through AB+C or by phone; the City advises that prerequisite inspections, approved plans, site access, and required documentation be ready. After required final inspections pass, Austin issues a Certificate of Occupancy or Certificate of Compliance; zoning, site-plan, and land-use requirements can affect the path before closeout.
